The initial motivation for writing this book was to capture my life story. However, as the work progressed, the narrative quickly became fictionalized and, in its final version, the autobiographical component comprises only a very small part of the story. As to the genre of the novel, I would characterize it as hybrid, or upmarket, fiction, where threads of suspense and spy fiction are contained within the framework of literary fiction.
